Cheers for The Dolls - Marlene

One of our georgeous September brides, Marlene, had the nicest things to say about our services on Wedding Wire.com, a perfect review in fact....

From Marlene...
Indiana did my make-up for my wedding last Saturday. She is very professional and efficient. She is calm and didn't stressed me at all that day. She arrived before time, she was very organized. She listened to what I was expecting regarding my make-up and made some wise suggestions. It looked perfect and very natural in the same time. I highly recommend her.
Marlene

Thank you Marlene for your kind words!

Bridal Beauty Inspiration Folder - Snipi

www.snipi.com

In our previous post, The Makeup Dolls suggested creating a beauty inspiration folder of magazine tear outs for hair and makeup to bring to the trial, but how about this idea? Creating an online inspiration folder! With Snipi, you can collect, organize, share and collaborate (with your makeup and hair artist, of course) all of your inspirations!

Using Snipi's tools, you can capture products, photos, videos and other content from virtually anywhere on the web. Snipi automatically gathers information about the snipped item and saves it to your profile on Snipi.com where you can keep it organized for yourself, or create collections that others can contribute to. It's like a virtual, living inspiration board!

But wait there's more! You can share your stream with your fiance, mother or bridesmaids by using a custom URL, or people can subscribe to your stream using RSS. You can also share the items via Facebook, Twitter, or your WordPress blog without leaving the original website where you found the inspiration.

If that's not enough, there is also an iPhone app too and it's free! Feel free to leave a link to your Snipi inspiration board on our blog and inspire us too!

Ask The Dolls - How to choose a bridal look

The Makeup Dolls are often asked how a bride should go about choosing her bridal look for the big day. Here are a few key things to consider:

1. Theme. What is the theme and/or feeling of the wedding? Is the day very clean and ultra modern? Is it more Old Hollywood and glamorous? Vintage? A preppy, yacht club affair? Whatever it may be, translating it into the bridal beauty look will just reinforce the theme and/or feeling.
2. Dress. A brides dress is probably influenced by the theme and/or feeling and makeup and hair should certainly tie in with both to add to a complete, polished bridal look.
3. Personal Style. Personal style is important to consider. If a bride is interested makeup and hair styles that tend to be more Hollywood glam but the wedding is the picture of modern, why not combine elements from both styles. Choose an up to the minute, very today hair style and pair it with a classic red lip and black cat eye liner.

We ask that our brides bring a few pictures with them to the trial session. We suggest tearing out pictures from magazines of makeup and hairstyles that are of interest and create an inspiration folder. It makes our time with the bride much more productive and we have more time to spend really fine tuning a look just for her.

Cheers for The Dolls - Jeri

You will remember our post about Jeri's gorgeous 4th of July, San Francisco wedding. She had such nice things to say about us, we're blushing! Thank you Jeri for all of your kind words!

From Jeri:
If you want to look absolutely stunning on your special day...look no further, Violet is your gal! Violet did both my hair and makeup for my July 4th nuptials. She created a ceremony hair & makeup look, as well as, a reception hair & makeup look. I changed dresses so I wanted an overall change for my entire look. I expressed my vision (old Hollywood glam) to her and she completely understood what I wanted.

Violet delivered outstanding service to not only me but my bridesmaids also. I have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day. My hubby, friends & family were absolutely blown away. I got so many compliments from nearly every single guest abut how perfect my hair & makeup were. I had people tell me that I looked like a movie star on the red carpet....that was such an uplifting thing to hear and it made me feel so beautiful. I actually cried when I saw myself in the mirror for the first time...it was incredible.

I really cannot say enough about how amazing Violet is! Not only did she deliver EXCELLENT beauty services she is very personable and punctual also. There is just no way you can go wrong with adding The Makeup Dolls to your team for your next big event.

I will be recommending The Makeup Dolls to everyone I possibly can. I am 100% satisfied with their performance.
