Red Carpet Beauty Review - 2011 VMA Awards

I don't find that I watch the VMA's that much anymore, I guess it's because MTV doesn't even play videos...Adam Levine couldn't be more right! I do however love to see the Red Carpet and this year didn't disappoint.

My absolute favorite of the night was Katie Holmes! I don't think I have ever thought of her makeup and hair to be something to emulate but Sunday night was the exception! She just looked all around amazingly good, don't you agree? Her hair was all over natural from her tousled hair and her makeup, her look was pretty and perfect.

I also really like Demi Lovato's look! I guess it's because I am always a sucker contrasting makeup as in her silver smoky eye (cool) and her peachy lip (warm). Deep part for her hair and loose waves....great, great and great!

Kelly Rowland looked amazing too...though I wasn't a huge fan of her dress but this blog is about makeup and hair and she got it perfectly right! Kelly is wearing a black smoky eye, a ton of lashes and a nude cheek and lip. This certainly should be a go to combo for all of us. It's easy to pull off and looks polished and clean.

Bargain Faves - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

Leave us a comment below on some of your bargain faves...we would love to try them out!

Here is a "steal" product review for all of you, Revlon's Grow Luscious Mascara. I just started using it and it really accentuated all of my lashes and did not make them clump at all. I loved it! It also is supposed to make your lashes grow longer and stronger! I'll take that please :)

Quick Tips - Beat the Heat - Hot Weather Makeup Must Have's

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we need hot weather makeup tips maybe, three times a year, if that. Yes it is pretty rarely hot here, its mostly mild all year round but every once in a while this Bay Area girl ventures out to visit my mom in Sacramento (hot as...! most of the year) and vacation spots like Sayulita, Mexico.

Even when on vacation, in an extremely humid environment I want to look good in at least some of the photos my husband was taking and I will tell you what the secret is to that...makeup! Yes, makeup but not your everyday makeup but rather a few key selections that were going to keep me and you on your next trip out your front door or to a hot climate locale looking good despite the heat. So here they are, my beat the heat pics:

Complexion

MAC Face and Body Makeup is the choice for keeping your complexion looking its best. This formula is water based (feels like you have nothing on) and water resistent (holds up to the heat). The body part came in handy for me when I came home with about 50 mosquito bites and had to wear a skirt out on Saturday night. A little Face and Body on my legs really helped my legs look a bit better.

Eyes

Keep it simple. A bit of lid primer, a light shimmer shadow dusted on your lid (love Stila Kitten, just the right amount of sparkle) and a waterproof black liner right in the lash line. Aqua Eyes by Makeup Forever is my pick everyday of the year when you need eyeliner that will stay and hot weather makeup is no exception.

Cheeks

Creme, creme, creme! When it's hot, embrace a bit of shine instead of powder because creme blushes will look more natural than powders. My favorite and frankly only creme blush I use is Stila Convertible Color. It comes in a wide array of colors and is so easy to apply. Simply pick up some of the product on your middle finger and blend onto your cheek with middle and ring finger. It really couldn't be easier.

Lips
I love lip balms for the moisturizing properties of course. I am a big fan of Tarte's LipSurgence pencils and whats not to love about Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm

Did I miss any of your favorites in this post? Please share my commenting below, I'd love to hear from you!

Red Carpet Beauty Review - Teen Choice Awards 2011

A quick Red Carpet Review from The 2011 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night! I just loved Demi Lovato's look! She looked so cute and the hair and makeup was perfect for the fun night out. I also thought Kaley Cuoco had the best hair, with her beachy waves showcasing the buttery blonde color. Loving her lined eyes too! Ashton's Katy Perry song at the end of his acceptance speech was a bit over the top...who gives that guy so much camera time? I am with Ferggy, I don't get it (did you see her reaction when he beat Josh Dumel...crunchy!).
